My sick Asian-y fabric cover

This weekend I made a not-so-shitty book!

I filled up my last Peter Pauper brand journal. And since I’ve never found another journal that I like as much as those, the time has come for me to make my own journals. I took the first step this weekend.

I made it out of three different papers. One called Josselen or some such nonsense, one called Frankfurt, and one nameless vellum. I wanted something easy to write on that wouldn’t let ink bleed through it. It also had to take to having pictures glued to it easily and be lightweight enough to produce a thin final product.

I had to go all over this god damn town to get all the materials together, but I finally did it. I made the cover out of some fabric I’d bought to use as a background for photos. I sewed it all up codex style. I did kettle stitches and double kettle stitches. I waxed the linen thread, if you know what I mean. And when it all finished up I was left with a totally not-so-shitty book. Then I glued some pictures in and wrote a little on each type of paper. Here are some scans of the finished test. Enjoy!
